Roslyn Thorpe

New South Wales – RDI® Program Certified Consultant

Registered Occupational Therapist

I have been working for over 20 years as an Occupational Therapist with children, and adults with a variety of challenges including autism spectrum disorder. In my time working with children on the autism spectrum I have become increasingly aware that the traditional approaches to working with individuals with autism, while helpful in some aspects, were not really addressing the core deficits in autism. RDI attracted me because firstly it identifies what is developmentally missing for the child and then works to allow the individual to develop skills in the underlying areas of difficulty, rather than simply trying to change certain behaviours. This makes a lot of sense to me, and offers so much more potential for progress. I am also a strong believer that the parents should be the main agents of change in their child’s life as they are the most crucial and consistent people in the child’s life.

I have a private practice on the North Shore of Sydney offering a home visiting service. Through my practice I very much enjoy working collaboratively with families using the RDI program to help them realise their child’s potential.
